Dual Detection Optical VR for stable super telephoto stabilization

Image blur can be a big problem, especially with distant subjects and super telephoto shots. Thanks to Dual Detection Optical VR (Vibration Reduction), the COOLPIX P950 effectively reduces image blur caused by camera shake for clear images of distant objects even when shooting handheld. In NORMAL mode, images are stabilized as when shooting with a shutter speed of 5.5 steps, the fastest in Nikon compact digital camera history2.

With the Nikon P950 there is no need to wait for image data to be written to the memory card before taking the next shot. Thanks to the larger buffer capacity, it is possible to shoot two bursts of shots in a row in continuous H mode (up to 10 frames at approx. 7fps*). 4K UHD cinematic movie

The COOLPIX P950 can record high quality 4K UHD/30p video with a zoom range of 24mm to 2000mm. Manual movie mode gives you full control over exposure and aperture settings to get images that look exactly the way you want them to. AE can also be locked if the ambient brightness changes significantly during movie recording. You can also select the zoom speed during movie shooting by selecting one of three options with the side zoom control.

Time-lapse movies made easy.

You can automatically create dynamic time-lapse movies, such as landscapes, from a series of still images captured with Interval Shooting. Choose from five scene mode options and the optimal spacing will be set automatically.

Flexible long exposure options

The COOLPIX P950’s shutter speed options add bulb and time settings to further customize the look of long exposure images; useful when shooting fireworks, night scenes, stars and light trails of cars.
